EAGLE PASS, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Eagle Pass Port of Entry arrested a woman who allegedly attempted to smuggle a Honduran man into the United States.

“Our officers are always vigilant and prevent people from entering the U.S. illegally,” said Port Director John Brandt, Eagle Pass Port of Entry. “The experience and training exercised by our officers daily, halt these types of human smuggling attempts.”

On July 28, CBP officers at Camino Real International Bridge, inspected a 2017 Ford Expedition, driven by a U.S. citizen woman, as it arrived from Mexico. A man, who was a passenger in the vehicle, presented a U.S. birth certificate. Upon questioning, CBP officers learned that the man was a Honduran citizen without legal documents to enter the U.S. and the woman allegedly provided the U.S. birth certificate to smuggle him into the U.S. illegally. The officers also revealed that the Honduran citizen had previously been removed from the U.S.

The 37-year-old woman, from Poteet, will appear before a U.S. magistrate for alleged violation of immigration law.
